I am married to a beautiful Chinese girl, and we live in China. As for providing for her parents, it is expected that the children take care of their parents. Maybe even to the point of completely supporting them. Extended families living together is very common, not so much for monetary reasons, just the strong family ties.
My situation is a little different. My wife’s family is very well off and they have two other daughters. Still, my wife gives them maybe 50,000rmb a year by paying for different things for them, house remodeling, gold jewelry, etc. I guess this is in return for the scarifies that they made while she was growing up and of course her love for them. It sounds like a lot of money, but my wife makes a lot of money, so it seems very little to us.
Anyway, it is your duty to accept this difference of cultures.
as far as the groom providing for the bride, here in Shanghai and I think this is standard for China, you as the groom must provide an apartment/house to live in (owned), a lot of my Chinese guy friends cannot get married b/c of this, the real estate is so expensive in Shanghai
those that are married have been given an apartment by the grooms parents to live in, this is also very common and expected
when I tell my Chinese friends that the bries parents pay for the wedding they always ask if the grooms parents buy the home
